  • What does the Bible say about the "666" ?  "Here is wisdom, let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: his number is 666". Rev 13 v 18.

  • Can Bible Numerics help us to unravel this mystery ?

The answer is: YES

First up what is Bible Numerics? The Greeks used letters for their numerical system in the same way that the Romans did (V = 5 etc).  Ivan Panin (see below) realised that the Hebrews also used numerical values for the letters of their alphabet.  He applied the corresponding numbers to each of the letters in the original texts (Hebrew for the Old Testament and Greek for the New Testament and came up with some truly astounding results.

Who is Ivan Panin?  Born in Russia in 1855 he ws exiled to Germany after participating in plots against the Czarist regime.  He moved to the USA and graduated from Harvard University in 1882 and in 1890 discovered the phenomenal mathematical design under the Greek text of the New Testament, subsequently finding the similar structure in the Hebrew text of the Old Testament. He died in Canada in 1942.

What do we think is the purpose behind such a phenomena? Although much can be gleaned from applying the meaning of a particular number as it appears in the Bible, ie 1 means Unity, 3 Divine Perfection 7 Spiritual Perfection etc. the real impact of this science is that the numerical thread incorporated in every letter of the original manuscripts shows that the Bible must have been inspired by a mind greater than any man's.  In fact it proves unequivocally that in order to preserve the integrity of the thread through the New Testament, each of the books in it would have needed to have been written last, clearly not possible.  Ivan Panin himself likened Bible Numerics to the watermark found in a genuine bank note.  His statement that the Bible could not have been written except by the inspiration of God Himself caused the Noble Research Foundation of the USA to examine his voluminous works and their findings were "so far as our investigation has proceeded, we find the evidence overwhelming in favour of such a statement" ("Seal of God" F Payne).
